Moller Sky Car

“Where are the flying cars?! They promised me flying cars!” That was the infamous lament of actor Avery Brooks in a popular IBM commercial a few years back and he has a point. Where are the flying cars? Well, we’ve seen many announcements that they’re coming with the most famous is the Moller Sky Car. Now it seems that with losing over 40 million in development costs, even Moller executives are leery about the prospects for the future of their flying car.more

The Sky Car

Dr Paul Moller has been developing 'sky cars' since the 1960s.

MODERN CAR

For years, cars were low-tech machines that belched smoke, and could be fixed by someone with a third-grade education and a monkey wrench. No longer. Today’s automobiles are masterpieces of integrated technology, near-perfect marriages of fiberglass and microchips that offer more comfort and cutting-edge features than a space shuttle. But the question on many drivers’ minds these days is whether the current crop of cars is smart in the right way.MORE

The Chess car…give me a break!!!

Theoretically great, safe and ‘futuristic looking’, but I wonder how many wouldn’t mind sitting in one of these, may be it’s just me, the look of it doesn’t appeal to me at all, but maybe this is what future cars will look like in 20 - 30 years time!
The Chess car was recently submitted by it’s designers to the 2008 Michelin Challenge Design, feel free to click on the images below for a closer look.more

toyota-iq-ft-ev-concept

Rumors that Toyota may sell its European iQ microcar in the U.S. under the Scion brand have reached a fever pitch, thanks to a new press release about a forthcoming Scion concept car.
Although no specifics are mentioned in the release, Scion’s hinted that the forthcoming concept is youthful, yet is aimed toward the “growing urbanization trend.” Sounds like we can expect a small urban runabout, not unlike the iQ. If true, this will mark the second iQ-based concept this year (the Toyota FT-EV was the first) and may indicate Toyota’s serious about bringing the Smart Fortwo-sized city car stateside.

Green Concept Car: Green Apple by Julien Sarremejean

Automobile industry has taken plenty of slack over the decades about how it has been spewing tons of pollutants into the atmosphere causing air quality to gone down to deplorable levels. Citroen C-Buggy

The last prototypes Citroen (C-buggy and C-airplay) are capable of taking onboard only two people, including driver. peugeot stylight, a hot electric three-seater concept

The new concept car coming from the automobile giant Peugeot Design Competition is surely a sophisticated design. Designed by Ognyan Bozhilov the car is a small 3-seater city car perfect for a small family to drive around the city. This designing marvel is a hybrid system with a small 1.6 liter HDI engine and an electric motor and the engine is placed above the rear wheels. 2010 Acura NSX Spied

At first glance, we thought this engineering test vehicle was the Lexus LF-A, not an Acura NSX replacement. Then we remembered the 2007 Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept that debuted at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. Suddenly it made sense. This test car is well camouflaged, but there are some clear differences from the concept car. The front fascia is more aggressive and has a large air intake in the center that is flanked by two smaller intakes. Headlights have been modified for production by increasing the size and angle of the lights. The changes give the car a more aggressive front end, and also differentiate the NSX from other Acura products. With this much camo covering the car, it's impossible to tell if that's a good or bad thing. Hopefully a closer-to-production car debuts at an auto show this year. While the concept car had rocker panels that tucked neatly under the car, the production car will have rockers that point away from the body. The greenhouse is a bit taller now, and the rear window will give much more visibility than the concept's. Changes to the rear bumper and lights are numerous. Expect the stacked exhaust to remain, but note the three air ducts at the bottom of the bumper and the production-friendly taillights. This car loses the distinct crease in the middle of the back bumper that we saw on the concept. We can't tell if the taillights stretch across the rear of the car like the concept's did. A pronounced bump on the hatch should provide downforce for better grip on the track.Acura has been fiddling with the design and engine choices for the NSX for a long time now. It looks as if those choices have finally been made and the car should be headed to production as a 2010 model. Of course the Nissan GT-R is foiling Acura and Toyota's plans for building legitimate supercars since the Nissan is so cheap and so capable.Photo Gallery: 2010 Acura NSX Spied - Latest News, Reviews, and Features - Automobile Magazine

Cadillac CTS Review

Look out European luxury brands, CTS is poised to follow its hit sedan and red-hot V-
Series with Cadillac's first factory wagon for the American market. A production version
of the CTS Coupe Concept should appear during 2010, and down the road there may
even be a convertible. And, oh, yes: a turbodiesel V6 option is another possibility. The redesigned Cadillac CTS is a much-improved premium midsize sedan. Consumer
Guide gives it a Best Buy ribbon as “finally a legitimate alternative to cars from Audi,
BMW and Infiniti.” Critical reaction elsewhere is mostly glowing too. Indeed, the CTS just
missed winning 2008 North American Car of the Year honors. more

2010 Toyota Supra Review and Prices

Gossips love concept vehicles, especially those that seem to belong in showrooms already. Take the Toyota FT-HS. Unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show as a "21st-century sports car," it reminded some of Toyota's well-liked Supra. And why not? It's another high-style sporty coupe with rear-wheel drive, a six-cylinder engine, and seating for four. Obviously, a new Supra was on the way, and with gas/electric power to boot. After all, FT-HS stands for "Future Toyota-Hybrid Sport."
Carmakers usually shrug off new-model rumors, but Toyota did the just opposite with the FT-HS. As Road & Track reported, a company spokesperson described the concept as "a car we all know Toyota should have. It would slide right into the slot where the Supra was, as a mid-price sports/GT car--something we need in our product line." Which implies a rival to the Nissan 350Z, which the concept closely matches in size, and not the Chevrolet Corvette, which the last Supra targeted. Trouble is, a strong yen 10 years ago priced the Supra out of its market. A new hybrid model could suffer the same fate, given today's weak dollar/yen exchange and hybrid technology that remains expensive.more

Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss

Introduced at the Detroit Auto Show this year, the Stirling Moss will be the last iteration of the SLR McLaren line. Its lines seem surprising illicit love-it-or-hate-it reaction, but no one can argue that Mercedes-Benz did not come with something unique to send to its flagship model. Not that you can buy one at any rate - only 75 are planned for production and only available to loyal customers of SLR. So what does 750,000 euros get you? Besides the unique body and interior, every car comes with the bread and butter-MB supercharged V8 pumping 650 horsepower, plus the ability to go 200 mph without much protection of a windshield. Sounds like a very good deal for us. Still can not decide whether McLaren SLR Stirling Moss's your style? Check out the pictures to the right.more

First Look: Audi Sportback Concept

Audi is clearly proud of its Sportback philosophy, which it defines as "the sporting elegance of a coupe, the versatility of a five-door model, sophisticated technology and pronounced sportiness."

First applied to the Audi A3, and more recently on its A1 Sportback concept seen at the 2008 Paris show, the Four Ring brand's latest Sportback-inspired intrepretation -- the Audi Sportback Concept unveiled at the 2009 Detroit show -- is by far the most luxurious and daring of its five-door efforts to date and no doubt serves as a thinly-veiled concept version of the soon-to-arrive Audi A7.more

Cadillac

The Cadillac Converj is still just a concept. Even though I'm far from the only motor journalist to have gushed over the star of the North American International Auto Show, General Motors' brass hasn't given a production version the green light. To refresh your memory, the Converj is a sexy 2+2 coupe riding on a version of the Chevrolet Volt's Voltec platform, powered by a 16 kW set of lithium-ion batteries with a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine for recharging purposes only. We'll have more details in an upcoming issue of Motor Trend magazine and of course here at MT.com.

One obvious issue regarding its green light: the Converj is a two-door coupe. My kind of car. And the kind of car designers love to draw. More
